2007 CookOff Results

The Columbus FFA Alumni held the 2007 annual June Cook-Off at the Colorado County Fairgrounds the second weekend of June. Team sign-in began Friday at noon and the event concluded Saturday evening with check-out extended through Sunday morning.

According to event manager, Fausta Kaiser, eighteen teams participated in the event. A Calcutta was included for teams only on Friday evening. Dean Fuchs, auctioneer, stirred up a lively bidding session between leaders.

Saturday, competition turn-in times started at 11 am and continued throughout the day until 5 pm. Approximately 6 pm, awards were presented.

Proceeds from the event were earmarked to defray expenses for FFA students attending the Washington Leadership Conference this month. “Though all the cook-off expenses have not been completed to date, the funds raised to benefit the students’ expenses is anticipated to be $2000. Of course, it could be more or less,” according to Kaiser.

Sponsors for the event include Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau, Columbus FFA Alumni and SPJST Insurance-Fausta Kaiser.

Best Overall Cooker went to PDAC. Head cook, Jason Zwahr and team members Jon Schroeder and Andy Kollmann, all of Bellville.
